4 Ways to Increase Visitors to Your Blog

Many bloggers try hard to increase the number of visitors to their blogs. In order to intrigue readers, they use several plug-ins related to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Simply, one of the most important ways to bring readers to your blog is search result. The other way is to keep your readers who once visited your blog. Based on two simple rules, I want to share my experience that increased the number of visitors for my previous blog and other bloggers’ tips with you. I am going to introduce tips according to my personal opinion.

1. Make eye-catching contents

This is the number one condition to grow the size of your blog in the long term. Also, this is the most difficult part. Many people think this rule is pertinent to an article with good quality, but quality is just one of the factors that enable a blog to grab a reader’s interest. You never forget that search result can be decided by the number of reference. If you want readers to tweet your blog or post it to their Facebook, you need to make your article more attractive. How to make these contents attractive?

The first strategy is to care about the quality. To be more persuasive and supportive to your points, you have to put more details to your blog in a ‘decent’ way. Here, a decent way is about how easily and clearly you deliver a message to a reader. That’s why many bloggers use infographics rather than simple tables or description of numbers. More relevant infographics will get you more loyal visitors.

The second strategy is to differentiate your contents from others. It doesn’t mean that you have to choose a niche category for a blog. Rather, you have to care about trends and narrow down the category. For example, if you want to manage a blog about pets, it is better for you to focus on a specific area such as pet food and pet products. This differentiation can be obtained from the format of a blog. Some people try to communicate with others about their common interests by utilizing a diary format.

The last strategy is to give readers some useful contents. My friend managed his blog about various kinds of humor and interesting commercial slogans like advertisement catch phrase a few years ago. However, he was busy due to personal issues and stopped posting a new entry for several years. Interestingly, when he recently visited his blog for curiosity, he was surprised to see that there were 100 visitors every day even though the blog was literally abandoned. This strategy is very effective when you have diverse multimedia files such as music, pictures, and video clips that can be shared with others.

2. Be more relevant to the theme

New visitors are led to a blog by a search engine after they punch a keyword into a search box. If they think the blog is irrelevant to their demand, they will leave right away after glancing at your blog for just a few seconds. The ratio of the visitors who leave soon is ‘Bounce Rate’. Every tip about increasing visitors connects to lowering a bounce rate and increasing revisiting rate. In order to get a stable customer base, you need to catch new visits to your blog like a snow ball effect. That is why you must concentrate on your theme. The more relevant posts you have, the more your blog will look professional and your blog will seem to have more affluent information.

3. Be more frequent

This is equivalent to more quantity. There is a specific rule about frequency. However, many influential bloggers recommend for us to post an article a day. It is seemingly impossible, but it is important to maintain the degree of activity of your blog by uploading a post regularly and as many as possible.

The reason why frequent upload is very important to general bloggers is that most first visitors to your blog will want more fresh stories. If the update is too delayed to refresh your captive visitors, it is difficult to drive them to revisit your blog repetitively.

4. Write a headline directly, but kindly

Personally, this rule is the one that I care the most. Many people including me stick to their writing style. But a headline is actually not one but two: for people and for search engines. When a machine analyzes contents or a headline of a blog, it doesn’t care about your writing style. You need to write a headline in an informative and direct way. Also it’s better to fill up meta-data, which briefly explains a blog with important keywords. I am using WordPress SEO to write a title for search engines and meta-data. You will see good examples at this article.

Additionally, it is very helpful to attract more visitors if you start your headline with numbers like “3 Ways to Lose Your Weight”. The number in a headline makes a post look well-organized.
