Wall Street(2010) is a sequel of the movie with the same title. It has an intriguing subtitle, ‘Money Never Sleeps’. It can be defined as various meanings through many viewpoints.
Some people comment that the movie can be a little bit boring to spectators who lack knowledge or background of the stock market. But I don’t think so. It has an interesting plot and most of all deals with ‘Money’.
The core structure of the movie is rivalry between a tycoon of Wall Street and a young investment banker. Shia LaBeouf who has tipped for stardom with ‘Transformer’ series stars as Jacob Moore. He is the elite investor and has his own willingness. He despises negotiating with anyone who uses unethical methods to earn money. He knows how to succeed in Wall Street, an urban jungle. But he keeps fighting for his own justice.
In this movie, there is an underlying message that you should keep away from money. What you should pursue is not money but love. If you love someone, then you should be with that person. This is the simple and important lesson Gordon Gekko gives to Jacob after his lonely years in prison.
Money is not an easy concept for people living in a materialistic world. But it doesn’t always make us happy. Because it never stays at a certain place. You get money, and you enjoy spending it, but it never lasts. Diligent money never sleeps. If you’re fortunate enough, you might find something that will last longer than money.
