This consortium recently publicized several protocols called as Terminal Mode and tried to expand its alliance to other players and industries in order to be adopted as a global standard. The interesting thing is that the technology includes USB, Wi-Fi and NFC for wireless charging and service connectivity. Espeically, NFC appears to support a function which gives a highly secured personal information for integrating services into a mobile device. And as it wass reported before, BMW will use NFC as a car key.
As a smartphone would substitute wallets in the commerce industry, it would be used as a key and in-car hub solution in the auto industry. As the need for contents such as reading articles and seeing VOD as well as listening to music continues to increasing, it’s time to ready for the growth of telematics which has been sluggish for long time. And most of all, it would be welcoming that those attempts are not driven by an individual company but a collaboration between main players in the industry.
