Outliers_What they give us?

Malcolm Gladwell starts with several interesting data about the corelation between hockey players and their birth date. And he gives us a couple of question which is used as a IQ test. By this point, I don’t understand what he means. Continuously he explains the story about some geniuses and Jewish lawyers.

Eureka! I might have known his intention why he writes this book. But from the middle of the book, I am so embarassed again. What the earth the accident of KAL?
When I read his other books – The tipping point, Blink, he gave me the insight about social phenomenon and certain issue. Most of all, he analyzed specific issues so well that I can easily understand what he means. Sometimes conclusions are seemed as repackaging of general thoughts. But enough for the data and many explanation used as evidences and logical information supporting his thought. Even if there are someone who don’t agree with his thought, they don’t reject those knowledges and research data.

In “Outliers”, he deals with several issues – the importance of timing(including birth date, environment), efforts, culture. What makes someone to succeed? It’s a composition of all conditions. But IQ is not a necessary. There are more important conditions than talent and effort. Surely, if you do your best effort, you take a chance to improve your life to the higher level. But for the success, need to fulfill more.

Finally he ties the knot as introducing the history of his family. Everything around us, from history to skin tone, will be the opportunity to make the story of success.
