Hayao Miyazaki is one of the greatest animation director in the world. He has carried a strong empasis on wildlife and nature conservation.
The Princess Mononoke starts with the fighting scene between the young man and god of disaster. This chasing scene is so active that I can’t keep my eyes away from the animation. A few days ago, I read the article that Ghibli studio which is established for making Hayao Miyazaki’s animaions will never make 3D animation. They stick to make animation by hands. So someone feels that Hayao’s animation is poorly drawn. But whether it’s poorly drawn, the message of the work is strong and vivid.
Especially, the scene that the god of disaster is running crazy shows how creative Hayao is. And the image that Akasaka, the young man who ride a buck, shoots an arrow gives tension and power. I’m so fascinated the visual factors and detail imagination.
Akasaka is cursed by the god of disaster and he sets out on a trip for solving why a wild boar became the god of disaster. When he goes too far from his tribe, he saves some people who are attacked by huge wild dogs. And he knows why wild animals change into the god of disaster. It’s the human activity for making iron – cutting trees and burning woods.
This is the other wild boar’s transformation. Anger, rage for human make them violent. And the gap between human beings and animals is getting far. Finally people recognize how foolish they are. And the fury of Xixi(the powerful god)’s heart is melted and life begins to spout again.
Sometimes what we persue is so small and selfish without any consideration of environment. But if we ignore the result of a stubborn development, we must regret what we do. This animation lets us know how important Living with wild animals and environment is.
