Transition of contents delivery

When IPTV shows up, many people think it would be a new substitutue of cable TV and theaters. But there is no change. And today’s article on Best Buy’s new try is not that innovative.

Though its similarity with IPTV, Bestbuy’s new model differently affect to the contents aggregation market. They have enough distribution channel as number 1 electronics retailer in USA. Based on their R&C, they are pursuing “one source multi use strategy”.

P2P websites have already substituted DVD sales market. Easiness and convenience are big advantages of online contents delivery. And most cases using online channel are cheaper than DVDs.

The user’s pattern and evolution of devices especially handheld terminals makes contents more flexible to distribute and compatible to use. And this delivery service is based on internet. It means they are at an open space which is totally different with another walled garden-IPTV.

This business will be executed as Amazon has done in an e-Book market. And nobody knows how the end of this game will be. But this interesting rule-setting try has already started.
