Though this book has its impressive subtitle – “Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness, the greatness of default option would be the more adequate subtitle of this book.
It starts with the thesis that human is not that intelligent and considerable. And writers(this book is written by two writers) prove their opinion by some questions. Little bit interesting, but the logic around the questions is too obsolete. And they put their focus on importance of the default option.
According to them, Everyone could be the plan who should choose the best option. Normally, human beings unconciously accept the choice. They don’t think whether other option is preferable to their choice. Just accept and maintain. It’s uncommon behavior for them to change their selection after choosing one-stick to their original version.
That is why we focus on the default option. Like the simple idea of painting a fly in a urinal, the effort or try for better result is very effective to society, and furthermore to humanbeings. And they exemplifies policies and services for the importance of default option.
But the point of view that many people are inclined to a certain objective is restricted to the narrowness of the default option. We don’t want to generalize all people’s thought and make a policy to regulate and guide them to the “dismoderate” default option. Because the wirters don’t say anything about the system or method to monitor the planner. They are human being too. They can make a mistake. It’s not a good manners that democratic option-system is the background for this theory. If it’s right decision that we set up the default option which are based on many options, and Vice versa.
