Finally Apple has released iOS4.2 on Monday(Nov. 22). It provides several new functions such as multitasking, folders, airprint and airplay. Now OS is getting more important than before.
Especially after Google’s Froyo upgrade, many people expect Gingerbread would be nicer. A few days ago, Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, talked to De Telegraaf, a newpaper in the Netherlands, that Google’s Android will take a market of mobile OS as Windows has did in PC market.
But Google needs more time to set up the whole line-up of Android devices while Apple just foucs on its iOS which supports iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This closed OS has restricted uncontrollable functions so that it gets a stable and powerful performance. But maybe the limit of closed OS may not satisfy customers’ various needs.
When various devices such as smart TVs are widely distributed, the competency between two companies would be more fierce. Until that time, it’s hard for me to be sure of next market situation.
